Wether it's a discussion of the latest trending topic, cooking a creative recipe, or adventuring in the woods, livestreams are an expression of curiosity. Meerkat is an raw, ephemeral medium used to document the world through one's unique perspective. Diverse lifestyle content is streamed from a variety of locations on a regular basis.
#MeerPoll was created to complement this participatory medium. Two topics are selected in a versus format and viewers are encouraged to cast their vote via comment in-stream. Results are share via Twitter and suggestions for future #MeerPoll topics are inspired by the community.
Meerkat has since made polling a native feature within the app. Users initiate heir own #MeerPoll by posting a comment which triggers a graphic to appear, tallying real-time poll results overlaying the livestream discussion.

App Overview
Meerkat is a mobile application available on both iOS and Android that enables users to instantly stream live video.
Everything that happens on Meerkat also happens on Twitter, via @replies. When a streamer goes live, a link is sent to followers in real-time push notifications. Everyone can watch within the application or on the web. Watchers are encouraged to participate in the stream via chat comments, Emojis, Likes and Restreams, which will share the stream they are watching to their followers in real time.
Meerkat encourages an open exchange of information, with few restrictions on stream content. The number one rule of Meerkat: Be kind.
